Any team who has a score ending in 88 (double eights) at the end of ANY hand will receive an automatic win. This could be a score of 88, 188, 488, even -88 or -188. In addition, any team who earns EXACTLY 88 points on one hand will receive an automatic win. THE TD MUST BE CALLED TO THE TABLE TO VERIFY THE 88 OPTION WIN TO QUALIFY. If both teams happen to qualify for the 88 rule in the same hand, the team with the higher score will receive the win. EXCEPTION: If the team who takes the bid goes over 500 at the same time as the opposing team earns 88 in that hand, or the opponents have a final score ending in 88; the team who went over 500 will still be declared the winner.
